Frequently asked questions

Which provinces charge HST?

Ontario (13%), Nova Scotia (14%), and New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island (15%). Others charge 5% GST, plus PST in BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, or QST in Quebec. Rates can change, so check CRA and your province.

Your 9-digit business number followed by RT and a 4-digit account number, for example 123456782 RT0001.

Do I need to register for GST/HST?

Once your taxable supplies exceed $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters, you generally must register (the small supplier threshold).
