Frequently asked questions

When do I use a delivery challan instead of an invoice?

When goods move without a sale at that point: job work, supply on approval, transfers between your own branches, or when the quantity is not known (liquid gas). A tax invoice is issued later if a sale happens.

Do I need an e-way bill with a delivery challan?

Generally yes when the consignment value (including tax) is over Rs. 50,000, including for job work. Check the e-way bill rules for your state.
